An unfilled 10% grade for drinking-water pipe and pre-colored PE compounds. Many PE80/PE100 compounds ship pre-colored at 2–2.5% carbon — 6045 at ~1% let-down trims shade and coverage without overshooting the compound spec, with the lowest masterbatch-derived mass in the system.
Typical values from in-house QC. We confirm the contractual spec against your order, with a batch CoA on every shipment.

Where 6045 shows up in our export business, and why buyers pick it.
Unfilled because there is no room for mineral leachables in drinking water pipe.
Adjust shade and coverage on pre-black compounds without overshooting carbon content.
For pipe makers coloring on the line from natural resin, dosage moves up to 4–6%.
A clean, high-flow PE grade compounders let down into their own black compounds.
The formulation logic behind the spec sheet — what the chart does not say.
Why a 10% grade exists: it is not for coloring natural PE cheaply — it is for systems that already carry carbon. Pre-colored PE100 at 2–2.5% carbon black needs only a trim; 6045 adds that trim with minimal added mass, keeping the compound inside its certified window.
Ash below 1% is the potable-water requirement: no mineral, no leachables, no contribution to the water-contact certificate.
MFR measured under 20 kg load reflects pipe-extrusion shear — the number the pipe line actually sees.
6045 exists for one reason: potable water. That single requirement sets its whole specification.
| Grade | Carbon black | Carrier system | Let-down | FOB price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6045 | 10% ±2 | PE (unfilled) | ~1% as a trim, 4–6% in natural PE | USD 1.60–3.40 | Drinking-water pipe and pre-coloured PE80/PE100 compounds |
| 508C | 13% ±2 | PE + CaCO₃ (~56%) | 3–6% | USD 1.20–2.80 | Non-pressure drainage and sewer pipe |
| H6045 | ~45% | PE (unfilled, clean) | 2–3% | USD 2.30–4.80 | Pipe where the masterbatch must supply the UV package as well as the colour |
6045 is a low-load, unfilled grade. That makes it sensitive to two things a filled grade forgives.
The recommended dose is about 1% when 6045 is used to trim an already pre-coloured compound — and 4–6% only when you are colouring natural PE from scratch. Running a trim grade at full colouring dose overshoots the compound's carbon black target and can push the pipe outside the specification it was certified against.
Unfilled means the carrier carries no deliberate mineral load. It does not mean the grade is a pure carbon black dispersion at any concentration. What matters for a certified compound is the total carbon black the finished pipe contains, and that number is what your PE80/PE100 certification was written against. Our CoA gives you the ash figure per lot so you can close the arithmetic yourself.
If the pipe is certified to ISO 4427 or an equivalent standard, the compound — not the pipe — carries the approval. Substituting a masterbatch changes the compound. Speak to the compounder or the certifying body before the switch, not after.
The grade is compounded unfilled on clean PE for potable systems; compliance is certified at the pipe level against your standard (ISO 4427, EN 12201, NSF). We support your pipe certification with formulation data and batch CoA.
At 4–6% let-down you get proper black, but if your only target is coloring natural PE, a 40%+ grade may dose lower per ton. Send your line details and we recommend the cheapest finished-ton route.
Yes — used in PE100 systems for trim and coverage. For the UV-critical outer layer, H6045 is the companion grade.
Use the form below or email Zoe Lin with your polymer, process and target. The full 6045 data sheet goes out the same day, and a free 2–5 kg line-trial sample follows — produced under the same compounding conditions as commercial batches.
Gas pipe is a different approval chain from water pipe and generally pairs with black compounds certified for that service. Tell us the application at enquiry and we will advise whether 6045 fits or whether you need to stay with the compounder's own black.
It means no mineral filler is deliberately added to the carrier system. We publish the ash figure per production lot on the CoA so the number is verifiable rather than a claim. If your specification has an ash ceiling, send us the figure and we will confirm compliance grade by grade.
Higher per kilogram, lower risk. On a potable-water line the cost of a non-conforming batch — retest, reprocess, or scrap — is orders of magnitude above the per-kilo difference.
Tell us your polymer, process and target carbon black in the part. We reply with the 6045 spec sheet, a let-down recommendation and a firm factory quote.
6045 is a general-purpose PE grade sold into pipe, film and injection work. This is where it is compounded, pelletised and released.
