The economics grade for non-pressure pipe: 13% carbon black with ~56% CaCO₃ loading. Drainage and sewer pipe has no pressure or potable-water requirement, so the formulation lets mineral do the economics while carbon black does the UV skin and the color.
Typical values from in-house QC. We confirm the contractual spec against your order, with a batch CoA on every shipment.

Where 508C shows up in our export business, and why buyers pick it.
Corrugated and solid-wall non-pressure pipe in PE or PP.
Non-pressure conduit where blackness and cost both matter.
Any black extrusion where the part is buried or indoor and UV is not the driver.
The formulation logic behind the spec sheet — what the chart does not say.
Why 69% ash is deliberate: in a buried pipe nothing leaches into drinking water and nothing sees sunlight for decades. CaCO₃ at this loading adds stiffness, cuts shrinkage, and drops the cost per finished ton — the correct engineering answer for drainage.
Why not use it for water pipe: potable systems need unfilled grades (see 6045, ash <1%). Different problem, different grade.
MFR above 1 g/10 min is tuned for pipe extrusion, where screw length and back-pressure do the homogenizing.
Three grades cover the pipe world at E-LUCK. The choice is set by what the pipe has to survive, not by price.
| Grade | Carbon black | Carrier system | Let-down | FOB price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 508C | 13% ±2 | PE + CaCO₃ (~56%) | 3–6% | USD 1.20–2.80 | Buried, non-pressure drainage and sewer pipe — mechanical protection only |
| 6045 | 10% ±2 | PE (unfilled) | ~1% as a trim, 4–6% in natural PE | USD 1.60–3.40 | Potable-water supply pipe, and pre-coloured PE80/PE100 compounds |
| H6045 | ~45% | PE (unfilled, clean) | 2–3% | USD 2.30–4.80 | Pipe that must draw its entire UV protection from the masterbatch |
Three failure modes we see in export enquiries — all of them avoidable, none of them the masterbatch's fault.
The 56% mineral load means a litre of 508C is not a litre of base resin. Dosing that is set by volume on a low-density PE line will drift by several percent between silo refills and you will see shade banding down the pipe. Dosing must be gravimetric, or at minimum calibrated by weight on the actual polymer you run.
13% carbon black gives a dense, uniform, “buried black”. It is not a blue-phase high-jetness black and it cannot be made into one by raising the let-down — above about 6% you are paying for filler, not for more colour. If jetness matters, the grade is wrong, not the dosage.
CaCO₃ at this loading changes the creep and long-term performance envelope of a pressurised pipe. 508C belongs where the pipe is not under internal pressure and not in contact with drinking water. Pressure work needs an unfilled grade — 6045 for water supply, H6045 where UV must come from the masterbatch.
No — pressure and potable applications need unfilled grades. Use 6045 for potable water supply, H6045 where UV protection must come from the masterbatch.
Drainage pipe runs volume; the grade is cost-optimized for truckload economics. Samples for trial are still free.
It contributes positively. Customers typically use 508C inside their own stiffness calculation — send your SDR and we share the dosage data.
Use the form below or email Zoe Lin with your polymer, process and target. The full 508C data sheet goes out the same day, and a free 2–5 kg line-trial sample follows — produced under the same compounding conditions as commercial batches.
It can be trialled, but the carrier is a PE/CaCO₃ system and PP runs hotter. Expect to re-tune barrel temperatures, and expect the mineral load to sit differently in a PP matrix. If the pipe is PP, tell us at enquiry stage — a PP-carrier route usually gives a better finish.
Sealed, off the floor, away from direct sun, ideally below 30 °C. The stated moisture ceiling is 0.50% as supplied. A pallet that has been open in a humid warehouse for a season will read higher at the throat of the extruder, and on a thin-wall pipe that shows up as surface roughness before it shows up on any instrument.
Yes. The 1,000 kg minimum applies to commercial orders. Trial samples of 2–5 kg are free and go out on the same courier as the TDS, compounded under the same conditions as production lots.
Tell us your polymer, process and target carbon black in the part. We reply with the 508C spec sheet, a let-down recommendation and a firm factory quote.
508C is compounded for blown film and film conversion where dispersion decides the gel count. This is the line that produces it, and the QC lab that releases each lot.
