Black Masterbatch PP30F — The PP-Carrier Grade for All-PP Systems

The one PP-carrier black in the range. 30% carbon black, unfilled, for GFPP, toughened PP and recycled PP — where a PE carrier forms a minor immiscible phase that seeds impact loss and color drift. Same-family carrier means a single-phase melt.

Who this grade is for

Where PP30F shows up in our export business, and why buyers pick it.

Use case

GFPP (glass-filled PP)

Glass fibers plus an immiscible PE phase is where impact failure starts. PP30F keeps the matrix single-phase.

Use case

Toughened (impact copolymer) PP

No PE carrier attacking the rubber phase — impact stays where the compound designed it.

Use case

Recycled PP

Recyclate already carries mixed history; adding a foreign carrier phase multiplies color drift. A PP carrier does not.

Use case

Automotive interior PP

Runs under IATF 16949 process with odor and fogging targets — send your spec and we match.

Why these numbers

The formulation logic behind the spec sheet — what the chart does not say.

Why carrier family matters: PP and PE are not miscible. A PE-carrier masterbatch in PP creates microscopic PE domains — usually harmless, occasionally the initiation site of impact loss and always a variable in color consistency. In demanding PP systems you remove the variable.

Why 30% and unfilled: PP carrier systems disperse well at this loading, and with no CaCO₃ there is nothing to nucleate shrinkage differences in glass-filled parts.

The F in the name is the film-grade heritage of the carrier — high flow, clean screen, cosmetic-capable.

How PP30F compares with the other PP and PE options

PP30F exists because carrier chemistry matters more than carbon black content in PP systems.

Where PP30F goes wrong on the line

The price of using the wrong carrier in a PP part is paid twice: once at impact testing, once at colour matching.

I used a PE-carrier black in a PP part

A PE carrier in a PP matrix forms a minor immiscible phase. It shows up as a drop in notched impact, especially at low temperature, and as colour drift between moulding runs. If the part has an impact requirement — anything automotive, anything structural — the carrier family has to match the matrix.

I dosed for colour and forgot the glass content

In GFPP the fibre already raises stiffness and lowers elongation. The black only has to supply colour and UV, so over-dosing buys nothing and adds weight. Set the let-down from the target carbon black in the part, not from how dark the pellets look.

I ran recycled PP without checking the first lot

Recycled PP varies in melt flow from bale to bale. PP30F will run, but the first lot deserves a CoA comparison and a trial run at production conditions rather than at a convenient setting.

Questions buyers ask about PP30F

When is PP30F worth the premium over PP103?

Whenever your PP is not plain homopolymer: glass-filled, mineral-filled beyond trace, toughened, or recycled. The premium is small; requalifying a failed batch is not.

Does it work in automotive interior parts?

PP-carrier systems are the standard answer for low-VOC interior trim. We quote against your odor, fogging and VOC targets on IATF 16949 process.

Can it be used in PP film or tape?

Yes — the carrier is a film-grade PP. For PP woven tape and thin PP film it runs cleanly at 2–4%.

How do I get a PP30F sample and the full TDS?

Use the form below or email Zoe Lin with your polymer, process and target. The full PP30F data sheet goes out the same day, and a free 2–5 kg line-trial sample follows — produced under the same compounding conditions as commercial batches.

Is there a food-contact version of a PP-carrier grade?

AM3910 is the food-contact option for rigid articles and uses a food-contact carrier system. Tell us the end use at enquiry — a food-contact claim is a system claim covering carrier, additive and carbon black, not just an MFR range.

Can PP30F be used in glass-filled PP above 30% glass?

It can, but the loading and fibre content interact. Send the glass percentage and the target carbon black in the part and we will recommend a let-down, together with the colour measurement route we would use to verify it.

Why is PP30F not the cheapest per kilogram?

A PP carrier costs more than a mineral-filled PE system. It is the correct engineering choice where impact and colour consistency matter, and the wrong one where they do not.
